Love

To celebrate love, we need words. This page will act as a collection of great quotes, poems, statements, etc.. that capture the wonderful power of being in love.

From The Bible

1st Corinthians 13:1

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.

Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.
(A friend of mine emailed me this quote. I thought it was a great representation of what true love really is. It also speaks about how important love is and how life loses its value without love.)

Unconditional Love and Acceptance

"Peace of mind comes from not wanting to change others, but by simply accepting them as they are. True acceptance is always without demands and expectations."

Forgiveness

Free yourself of guilt!
The 1st Step- Forgive "YOU"!
Over-ride (old emotions ) YOU know It 'HURT YOU"...and that's OK!
But why re-live that emotion (feeling) over & Over? LET-GO !
Re-member--- Take ALL the positive, and FOCUS on that! Surely there was 'GOOD' (at one time) --- otherwise you WOULD not have been attracted to the person/situation to begin with! eh??? - so look for that "beauty" you found once before - and Hold On To That Instead!!
Gratitude---Accept with gratitude and grace, the lesson/opportunity of the experience- (there was a lesson there - did you not see that? ) and turn it into a tool- a positive thought.
Inner-peace ---
that is what YOU will achieve once you have mastered the art of "forgiving" peace within YOU!
Vanish--- The words- (ie: HATE- ANGER- RENCOR-REVENGE--etc...) remove them - forget what they signify - take them and re-mold them - re-write them - make the words turn into pure loving energy-
you have the power to create- do it!
Everlasting Bliss- the end result -
the light has become YOU, and YOU have become the light!

From The Bible

1st John 4:18
There is no Fear in love.
(submitted by Abi from England)

From the Motion Picture "The Notebook"

Young Noah: Would you just stay with me?
Young Allie: Stay with you? What for? Look at us, we're already fightin'
Young Noah: Well that's what we do, we fight... You tell me when I am being an arrogant son of a bitch and I tell you when you are a pain in the ass. Which you are, 99% of the time. I'm not afraid to hurt your feelings. You have like a 2 second rebound rate, then you're back doing the next pain-in-the-ass thing.
Young Allie: So what?
Young Noah: So it's not gonna be easy. It's gonna be really hard. We're gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, for ever, you and me, every day. Will you do something for me, please? Just picture your life for me? 30 years from now, 40 years from now? What's it look like? If it's with him, go. Go! I lost you once, I think I can do it again. If I thought that's what you really wanted. But don't you take the easy way out.
(When I watched this movie, these were the lines that made me cry. I could have sworn Mary and I had had almost this exact conversation word for word before.)

From the Motion Picture "Jerry Maguire"

Jerry Maguire: I love you. You... you complete me. And I just...
Dorothy: Shut up, just shut up. You had me at "hello".
(Mary and I both used to make fun of this movie, but we both agreed that we felt these two lines really summarized us. I used to write one or both of these quotes in most of the holiday cards I would give her. She really did have me at hello when I first met her.)

From the T.V. Series "Friends" Episode: The One with the Prom Video

Phoebe: See he's her lobster (referring to Ross and Rachel finally getting together).
(This was my favorite episode on TV growing up. I watched it over and over again after Mary left.)

From the T.V. Series "ALF"

Alf: If you love something, let it go. If it comes back to you, it's yours.
(submitted by Ken from St. Louis)

From the T.V. Series "Beavis and Butt-head"

Butt-head: If you love something, and you set it free, and it doesn't come back... you're a dumbass!
(submitted by Mark from San Francisco)

From the T.V. Series: "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (1997) {Lovers Walk (#3.8)}

Spike: You're not friends. You'll never be friends. You'll be in love till it killsyou both. You'll fight and you'll shag and you'll hate each other till it makes you quiver, but you'll never be friends. Love isn't brains, children, it's blood. Blood screaming inside you to work its will. I may be love's bitch, but at least I'm man enough to admit it.
(This was one of my favorite TV shows of all time. In this scene, Spike is talking to Buffy and Angel and challenging them on their denial of how much in love with each other they are, despite what they say to the contrary.)

From the T.V. Series: "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman" (1993)

Grace: Sometimes people disappoint you, and you just have to let it go and love them anyway.
(Alison, Dallas Texas)

From the Song: "Have You Really Ever Loved a Woman" by Bryan Adams

You've gotta breathe her - really taste her
Til you can feel her in your blood
N' when you can see your unborn children in her eyes
Ya know ya really love a woman
(submitted by Beth from San Diego)

"Every man is afraid of something, that's how you know he loves you...when his afraid of losing you."
(I thought this really illustrated how I felt for her, but also explained my behavior at times.)
